About
Present Paradox, the music project by David Kleinekottmann from Dortmund, explores of the often opaque nature of the present. The result is a fusion of melancholic and danceable elements, expansive and intimate at the same time, diverse and yet familiar. Since 2013, Kleinekottmann has been regularly releasing LPs/EPs that move between indie, experimental rock and electronica.
Early on, former Cocteau Twins bassist Simon Raymonde expressed his enthusiasm on British radio: "That's an exciting sound David is making!"*. And Thoralf Koß, editor-in-chief of Musikreviews.de, attests to Present Paradox's fine "feel for addictive melodies and poetic lyrics "*.
In 2016, David Kleinekottmann began bringing the sound of the Present Paradox music to the stage. Equipped with keyboard, guitar, sampler and a varied set, always ready to give his all on stage and sink into the songs. The German concert critic Captain's Dinner wrote about the last performance shortly before the outbreak of the 2020 pandemic: "A project that undoubtedly has international class and definitely deserves more attention"***.

Present Paradox's personal second Minialbum
PresentParadox is the name used by David Kleinekottmann (born 1989 in Bielefeld, Germany) for his electronic music-oriented solo efforts. With his debut "Institutions" he has already gained a bit of attention. The former bassplayer of Cocteau Twins and founder of Bella Union Records Simon Raymonde has chosen two Present Paradox's tunes for his radio show on amazingradio.
Now Present Paradox is back with a new record, called "Acute". He has written five of the six songs on that EP after the death of his father. All songs are reflecting this experience in a different way. The hurt, the confusion. The center of "Acute" are the songs "Midnight fog" and "Goodbye". Like on his first EP "Institutions" David Kleinekottmann lays the focus on the creation of an dense atmosphere, rather than an conventional songstructure. The melodys aren't complex, but every song has it's own kind of texture. Most of the songs merge seemlessly. The main inspirition for Present Paradox second EP has been Radioheads "Kid A" as well as Thom Yorkes latest record "Tommorows Modern Boxes".
