About
Present Paradox, the music project by David Kleinekottmann from Dortmund, explores of the often opaque nature of the present. The result is a fusion of melancholic and danceable elements, expansive and intimate at the same time, diverse and yet familiar. Since 2013, Kleinekottmann has been regularly releasing LPs/EPs that move between indie, experimental rock and electronica.
Early on, former Cocteau Twins bassist Simon Raymonde expressed his enthusiasm on British radio: "That's an exciting sound David is making!"*. And Thoralf Koß, editor-in-chief of Musikreviews.de, attests to Present Paradox's fine "feel for addictive melodies and poetic lyrics "*.
In 2016, David Kleinekottmann began bringing the sound of the Present Paradox music to the stage. Equipped with keyboard, guitar, sampler and a varied set, always ready to give his all on stage and sink into the songs. The German concert critic Captain's Dinner wrote about the last performance shortly before the outbreak of the 2020 pandemic: "A project that undoubtedly has international class and definitely deserves more attention"***.

Present Paradox's fourth LP tells about wishes and desire
>>You're the ghost I send out to open the space for wishes<<
My fourth release tells of wishes and feelings of desire. Over the span of six songs I cover all facets of the topic. From slow germination in "Grow Slow" to disappointment and disillusionment in "Responder". The 23 minutes long album "Space for Wishes" is my most elaborate in-house production. I step away from the electronic sounds of my previous albums. Instead of Drum machines I made use of real drums, instead of digital synthesizers there are guitar arpeggios played through a Vox Amp.
>There's this light, airy quality to Present Paradox's music, somewhat akin to vintage Talk Talk, that manages to sound both psychedelic and emotive. This sings to my soul, as it likely will for anyone that thinks a lot, may be prone to bouts of melancholy, but also sees the brightness and positivity in life.<
